Surin Avenue
Landed Residence Whole-Floor Microcement

A completed landed-home project in Singapore using Space Grey microcement across the entire first floor and in a third-floor bathroom. The project shows how one mineral finish can connect multiple residential zones while responding to the different technical needs of dry and wet areas.

One surface language, throughout.

Project Overview

One mineral finish connects multiple spaces while allowing the architecture to remain quiet.

01 / 04

The Homeowner’s Goal

A calmer first-floor environment with fewer visual interruptions between connected spaces.

The design direction called for a more continuous first-floor environment in which the surface would support the architecture rather than compete with it.

Space Grey was selected for its restrained architectural tone and its ability to sit alongside timber, glazing, furniture and warm interior lighting.

02 / 04

One Material Language, Different Conditions

The same colour can connect different areas, but the technical system must still respond to each space.

Using the same colour across a whole floor can create visual continuity, but the application system still needs to respond to the actual substrate, thresholds, junctions and use of each area.

The third-floor bathroom also requires wet-area assessment and detailing. A bathroom microcement finish should be treated as part of the complete substrate-to-protection system, not as a substitute for unresolved waterproofing or structural issues.

Application Zone 01

Entire First Floor

Space Grey establishes a continuous mineral backdrop across the connected first-floor environment.

Application Zone 02

Third-Floor Bathroom

The same colour language continues into a wet area with application-specific preparation, detailing and protection.

03 / 04

The Completed Result

Space Grey becomes a quiet architectural backdrop rather than a decorative interruption.

The Space Grey finish establishes a consistent mineral backdrop across the first floor, allowing furniture, artwork and architectural details to stand out.

The third-floor bathroom extends the same restrained material language into a more technically demanding environment.

This project provides a local reference for landed homeowners and designers considering larger continuous floor areas rather than a single feature surface.

What This Project Demonstrates

01

Microcement can create visual continuity across connected landed-home spaces.

02

A shared colour can be used across dry and wet areas while the technical system remains application-specific.

03

Whole-floor projects require careful planning around substrate stability, transitions, sequencing and curing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Considering microcement across an entire floor?

Can microcement be used across an entire first floor?

It may be considered where the substrate, transitions, movement conditions and project detailing are suitable. Larger continuous areas require careful assessment and application planning.

Can the same colour be used in a bathroom and living areas?

Yes. The same colour language can be carried across different spaces, although the preparation, detailing and protective system may differ according to the application area.

Does a whole-floor microcement project have no joints at all?

Microcement can create a visually continuous finish, but existing structural or movement joints and project-specific detailing should not be ignored or concealed without assessment.
